I agree with alot of people that say everyone's view of right and wrong is different. People can't say that one thing is wrong when to another person it may be right. But, some little kids don't know right from wrong yet. What if a child is on the computer and plans to go to myscene.com(doll website)and then the computer accidently goes to myspace.com and ends up seeing or reading things that they shouldn't have. Yeah, the parents should be watching them but the parents can't watch them all hours of the day and night. We all know how myspace works and we all know how alot of the times people go to far on the things they put up(and that does not just go for Myspace, it goes for a lot of sites). Now i dont mean that we should make everything all cencored gumdrops and lollipops but there should be a stronger limit on what you can put on Myspace, google,T.V and all of that stuff. Yeah, you can say that you are going to see or find out what it is sooner or later but until you do ignorence is bliss.

In response to a couple of questions...

I think that MySpace should protect its patrons, especially the children, but I do not think that site that is dedicated to expressing one's self should censor and block out links to rival sites. That goes against their message, and that I do not agree with.

I agree with Randy, Queen Anne is good with censoring, but they know that we won't go to any bad sites, so why do they censor Disney Channel and Cartoon Network?

Mr. Kolade,
I agree with what Blair said about censoring what we do because you control the blog. My question is do feel this type of censoring that is done with our comments be done with Myspace?

I think that people should be able to control the ammount of censorship that they have on their web pages, instead of having someone else censor what they can do. I also think that people should be allowed to set the level of censorship that they are comfortable with on their web pages without anyone else having a say on it. I say this because sometimes the people running the sites are way too overprotecive on the stuff that they censor, and most of the time it is very unfair.

Queen Anne is a good example of overprotective censoring. I understand blocking off sites like AOL and Yahoo, but when you get so protective that you block little kids sites like Cartoon Network and Disney channel, thats a little too much.

I agree with what Philip said that some things should be censored . my reason is that people interpret an action or situation differently and it also affects them differently. When it comes to MySpace, I think that enforcing censorship would wprk for some people because who is to tell whether or not someone is being honest or dishonest? There is no way to tell since it's so impersonal and there is no person to person contact such as eye contact. You can say what ever you want and people would believe you. However, I think people should use their own moral standards when it comes to right and wrong. Peoples interpretation of right and wrong varies across the globe and thats why I think censorship should be imposed up to a certain point.

I think that most censorship is pretty important, like if people were putting porn all over places that should be censored.

However, I think that a lot of the censoring of dirty jokes and stuff like that is pretty stupid because if you're young enough that it's a problem for you to hear the stuff, you probably can't understand it anyway, and by the time you do understand it, you're old enough that it's OK.

My mom is OK with me seeing anything as long as it doesn't give me nightmares or get me really upset or something. She's not concerned that if I see stuff on TV or the internet with violence that I'm gonna say "Cool, I'm gonna go be violent now!" because that would just be stupid.

Some people who have MySpaces abuse the privileges by putting obscene things on it. Not all people have the dicipline to control themselves from doing and saying stupid things, so MySpace cencoring certain things is for the better. People can and will also start to complain about the obscenity of MySpace and that would cause other problems.

I too believe that Blair's statement was a good point and correct, but i also too believe Mr. Kolade has the right to decide what goes on his web page or not, because it is HIS web page and not ours. We just have the privilege of using the page.

Oh i've also noticed that on fashion magazines on the do's and don'ts colunms most of the time when they show random people who are classified as "bad dressers" they use the censor bar to cover up their face from humiliation of the public, so people would not tease them or anything.

Mr. Kolade do you think that this is wrong?
